Those who read this series know that coffee is a main priority in her day to day zombie raising life. She believes that your first cup of coffee should always be black. In her world, it's near impossible to ruin a pot of coffee,  even though some seem to try.

I have all but three of the series, plus the Merry Gentry series, and I'm rereading them (for the third time). I also listen to the audiobooks while I drive around town. I adore this series and almost everything about it. Sigh, she completes me. Wink, wink.

Who would you cast to record an AudioBook for one of you books/manuscripts?

I asked this on Facebook and I thought that I'd answer it here. Because I have more than one book, I need some space to properly pay attention to the people I would chose for my own work.

 

I adore the voices of Kathleen Turner

 

 

Michelle Pfeiffer

 

 

 and Catherine Zeta-Jones

 

 

but I haven't written the books that I believe would be worthy of those sultry voices. That doesn't mean that I won't, I just haven't written them YET.

When I write about Andromeda's twin brother, Perseus, I'll see if I can get Antonio Banderas to handle that audiobook for me.

Too many voices? No way!

I've been experiencing a wonderful rush of ideas lately that surprise me. As I'm super busy, I figured that my muse would run away from home for awhile. If my brain has been taken over by college then what room would she have to grow? Well Vivien, this is my formal apology. You not only stuck around but you've been teasing me with naughty ideas of all sorts of fictional fun. I thank you.

I have enough ideas right now that I could write one a year (if only, sigh) and have enough ideas to take me into polyester retirement. Don't misunderstand, these aren't full blown "I'm ready to edit away" ideas. These are all in some form of creativity that I can easily go back to at a later date. I'm currently writing (slowly, very slowly) two manuscripts and the rest are in either a small blurb, beat sheet, or rough outline of ideas to allow to grow to full maturity. 

I have approximately 5 series ideas and at least 20 more stand alone novels. The series are anywhere between 3 books and 10. Of course, one of these series is my Savage Series that I'm writing the second of those ten (again, very slowly). It's my baby and I long to spend some more time with it. Anyway, all of these ideas are paranormal, as that's my sweet spot. They're also all southern with sass and sexiness that can put a smirk on my face. I hope I can do the same for you.

It's going to take me some time to get to a spot where I can purge all of this fictional yumminess that is currently residing in my devious brain. Be patient, please. Vivien and I are well worth the wait. So, you guys can enjoy the two books that I have out now because I have many more to throw your way in the years to come.

Second Week Snippets

I had an idea to use this week to do snippets from the first two chapters out of one of the manuscripts that I'm currently working on.

(These are unpublished, unedited glimpses into one of my many projects.)

                “You did what?” I shrieked.

            “I just signed your marriage contract. You’re to be married to Allastair Bomani within the month.”

        “What gives you the right to plan my life for me?”

        “I’m your father and a secretary to the coven leaders. I have every right to better your life and the future of our coven.”

        “How could you do this?”

        I was beside myself with rage. Just when I thought he had stopped all this nonsense about my life needing more substance, he does something like this.

        “It was very easy, my dear. You’re old enough to have a family of your own and you need to focus your concerns on something other than translating our archives and horseback riding.”

        “Excuse me? But I thought this was my life?”

        “It is, but you’re not doing anything with it. This way, you get to build a family and we can stop the feuding between our two covens. Calinda, we need to bind the wounds between the Amun and the Osiris covens.”

        “Father, this is outrageous. You can’t seriously expect me to marry a man that I haven’t seen in ten years, let alone take on the role of fixing the covens. Couldn’t you just sign some peace treaty, like most civilized races?”

“Where do you think you’re going?”

“Away from you.”

“I told you before that I didn’t think that you needed to be running around alone so close to the sunrise. I meant that. So, you won’t be going anywhere without me.”

“You’ll have to stop me first.”

I was on the horse’s back before the words escaped through my pinched lips. With that, I was off. My horse may not have vampire blood, but she was the fastest in our coven. Father knew that I had to be quick to get away from anyone trying to capture me. He just never realized that it’d be the very man that he’d signed me away to.

I felt the wind around me and laughed at my bravado. I heard something and looked over my jostling shoulder. Then there was a blinding pain, just as I was thrown off of Aziza’s damp back. I was airborne for a couple of seconds until I bounced off of the grassy tundra. The entire right side of my face was jarred enough to crack mortal teeth. Thank God for the stars because I saw plenty of them as my body settled into a heap of cotton and pain.

The ground under me shook. Cringing intensified the pain so I just waited for the herd to hit me. The air swooshed around me, kicking dirt into my half open eyes. My eyelids were the only thing not aching, so I was able to bat them until they were clear. Again, I wish that I hadn’t because those sexy eyes were looking back into mine again. Worse, there were four of them, instead of two.

“Wasn’t one of you bad enough?”

“What?” A crease formed between his eyes.

Crap, I’d said that out loud. I was worse off than I thought, if words were slipping by before I noticed them.

Firsts - Gift Baskets

As I have two conferences to attend this fall, I'm donating baskets for self promotion. One of these is the Ga Romance Writers 2013 Moonlight and Magnolia Conference in October and the other is the  Southern Magic Romance Readers Luncheon in November. I'm looking forward to both as I adore the people that will be in attendance.

I've been racking my brain for items that would be useful to my fans. So many places are going Green that I'm discouraged against ordering any note pads or bookmarks. I understand what they're going for and am new enough to this that I can adapt to the needs of the public. But what are my options?

I'm not someone who has bundles of cash at my reach (sorry, kids) so I have to be conscious of what gets the most bang for the buck. I've already got new business cards, postcards, bags and tshirts for my website. Phew! But what can I give out that is within my guidelines?

I decided on purchasing some of the books that I read as inspiration for my novels. This gives back to the authors who fed my muse as well as showing what I like to read. Yes, most of us write what we read (or want to read). I also decided to buy a journal to go with some pens I have on order. My hubby picked out the journal and it certainly fits into the theme of my first release.

Yes, I'm basing two of my baskets on Andromeda. This means I'll include a print version of that plus a deck of oracle cards. If you don't know why, then read Andromeda and you'll understand.

I'm wanting to put these items in a small "treasure chest" and yes, it makes sense with the theme of my book. And if I get any brainstorms of other things, those can be added as well. I wish that I could afford to buy Kindles/Nooks as a gift (since my books are currently on e-readers), but it doesn't seem feasible right now. Shoot, I didn't even have one for myself. (Don't steal my author card for that, please.)

2013 My Year of Growing

I'm half way through 2013 and so much has happened already. My red head is spinning.

Not only did I publish two books this year.

But Andromeda hit the best sellers list on my publishers website.

I was asked to join the Georgia Romance Writers Conference Committee.

I worked two months at The Pirate Ship(http://www.thepirateship.com/), while I worked my full time job, and THEN headed straight for night school.

(Bang head here)

Just Kidding.

This is a year where I see what I can become and where my limits are.

I'm pushing myself so hard, that I'm wondering if I should be hiring an assistant for my scheduled nervous breakdown. In all of this self induced insanity, I'm ticking off my muse while I read over pages of homework.

My sleep time is allotted and breaks are on a Need To basis.

But, I'm still smiling. I furrow my brow over tests and figures but look forward to what I see on the horizon.

I'm determined to get this certificate (and a few others), so I can dig into a new career that will pay my bills as I have my muse plot my retirement. She'll be with me through all of this, because I won't abandon her. So far, she's given me 40 novels to write. (At least 30 of these are for three series I'm plotting.) She and I have an understanding right now and it'll all be worth it.

I'll make it, because not only am I stubborn (to hell and back) but I'm worth it. So is my future. I hope to see you guys among my crew as I sail forward.
